| POSTGRADUATE DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY
The Department of History of the College was established in the year 2014 with an undergraduate BA programme in History. It is one among the three undergraduate programmes offered from the very inception of the college. The department admits 36 students every year. In addition to that, a few seats are earmarked for students who excel in sports and games. Despite being a very young department, we have secured fourth position among the thirteen colleges affiliated to Kannur University, who are offering BA programme in history, during the academic year 2020-21. The Department is elevated as a postgraduate Department during the academic year 2020-21. It is now offering an MA in Social Science with Specialization in History. It’s an unique programme wherein students are trained to be experts in interdisciplinary studies and research. Our department is the only department under Kannur University offering this specialized new generation programme. We admit 15 students who have undergraduate degrees across disciplines to this programme. The Department regularly conducts seminars and workshops for the overall academic development of the students. It also encourages students to participate in discussions and debates, writing competitions and academic visit programmes. Our Department has the benefit of utilizing the services of excellent teachers and researchers. Mr Aneesh K, Mr Rajan P.P, Dr Dinesan V, Dr Prakash Kumar K are the permanent faculty members the department has so far.
